Epoxy Mold Release – Mold Release Spray for Epoxy Resin, 400 ml
Silicone-free, colorless mold release spray for epoxy resin, casting molds, and mold making
Our Epoxy Mold Release spray is a high-performance lubricant and mold release agent for epoxy resin applications and mold making.
It forms a thin release layer between the mold and the workpiece, thereby reducing the adhesion of the cured material to the surface.
The result: easier demolding, less stress on the mold, and a cleaner workflow.
The release spray is suitable for plastics, molds, metals, and tools and can be used in mold making, pressing, and vacuum forming, among other applications.
The convenient aerosol spray can allows the release agent to be applied finely and evenly—even on molds with edges, recesses, or more complex contours.
Ideal for Epoxy Resin & Casting Molds
When casting epoxy resin, the cured resin can bond very strongly to certain mold surfaces.
A suitable release agent helps reduce this direct adhesion and makes it easier to remove the finished part from the mold afterward.
Our Epoxy Mold Release is particularly suitable for:
Epoxy resin and casting resin
Epoxy resin molds
Mold making
Model making
Plastic molds
Metal molds
Tools and mold surfaces
Pressing processes
Vacuum forming
Repeated demolding operations
For unknown or sensitive materials, we recommend conducting a small compatibility test before the first use.
Advantages of Epoxy Mold Release:
Silicone-free
The release spray is silicone-free.
As a result, no silicone-containing release agent components are applied to the mold surface.
This is particularly beneficial when workpieces are to undergo further processing afterward, such as:
Grinding
Polishing
Bonding
Painting
Coating
Colorless
The release agent is colorless and therefore leaves no intentionally colored release layer on the mold.
High Lubricity
The lubricating and release effect reduces direct adhesion between the workpiece and the mold, thereby facilitating subsequent demolding.
Temperature Range from –20 °C to +130 °C
The product is designed for a wide temperature range from –20 °C to +130 °C. These technical specifications are also listed on our product label.
Easy to Use as a Spray
The aerosol spray can allows the mold release agent to be applied quickly and evenly to large surfaces as well as to hard-to-reach areas of a mold.
For which molds is the mold release spray suitable?
The Epoxy Mold Release can be used on many smooth and solid mold surfaces, including in particular:
Plastic
Metal
Tool surfaces
Mold-making surfaces
For new materials, we generally recommend conducting a small test first.
Important for porous molds
For highly absorbent or porous materials such as:
untreated wood
MDF
plaster
concrete
other open-pored materials
In some cases, a release spray alone may not be sufficient.
Epoxy resin can penetrate open pores and become mechanically anchored there. Such surfaces should therefore be sealed with a suitable sealer first, if necessary.
Why Use a Release Agent with Epoxy Resin?
A good release agent can offer several advantages:
Easier Demolding
The cured epoxy resin can be more easily removed from the mold surface.
Protection of the Mold
Less force needs to be applied to the mold when removing the workpiece.
Less damage
The risk of damaging delicate molds or fine details during demolding can be reduced.
Ideal for reusable molds
This is particularly beneficial when the same mold is used for multiple casting operations.
Even application
The spray applicator allows for quick and precise application.
Epoxy Mold Release – Mold Release Spray for Epoxy Resin
1. Clean the mold thoroughly
The surface to be treated should:
- clean
- dry
- dust-free
- fat-free
be.
Old release agent residues, dust or other contaminants should be removed before use.
2. Shake the spray can well.
Shake the can thoroughly before use to ensure the contents are evenly distributed.
3. Spray on a thin layer of release agent.
Spray the Epoxy Mold Release evenly and sparingly over the entire surface that will later come into contact with the epoxy resin.
A thin and as closed a separating layer as possible is generally better than a very thick, wet application.
Especially note:
- corners
- Edge
- Depths
- Undercuts
- detailed shape areas
The mixed epoxy resin can then be poured into the prepared mold according to the processing instructions of the respective resin system.
6. Allow to harden completely.
Allow the epoxy resin to fully cure before demolding.
Premature demolding can lead to damage to the workpiece or the mold, regardless of the release agent used.
7. Demold the workpiece
Once fully cured, the workpiece can be carefully removed from the mold.
If necessary, the treatment of the mold can be repeated before the next casting.
Ensure even wetting.
4. Allow to air dry
Allow the release agent to evaporate sufficiently after spraying.
The epoxy resin should not be poured directly onto a still visibly wet release agent layer.
5. Pour in epoxy resin
